Everybody Everywear: Blazer
February 9, 2011So, this is my first Style Nation participation event! It was pretty simple: wear a blazer on February 8th. I could do that:
Blazer, Tights: H&M
Skirt: NY & Co.
Tank: Gap
Shoes: Naturalizer via TJ Maxx
Jewelry: gifted
I figured a lot of people today would be wearing very modern and hip outfits based on such a traditional piece. However, I don’t often have opportunity to dress to the nines, and used this event to practice dressing traditionally, but livening it up with personal accessories. I also tried something new: a grey skirt with grey tights. I think it looks interesting, but I’m not too sure how well it goes with the rest of the ensemble.
Also, sorry for the bad lighting these last two posts, I’ve been getting home from teaching during poor lighting times. I even moved away from my balcony to the mailboxes in search for better positions, to no avail.

I actually jumped on the blazer bandwagon too! Blazers are such a staple item!
What a lovely detailed blazer–those sleeves! And there’s nothing better than a really classy outfit day, complete with heels. Very chic!
I like the sleeve/shoulder detail. Much more chic than shoulder pads!
I love that this was your first Style Nation project. We aim to keep it simple
The shoulders are fun on your blazer and I love those shoes.
The Auspicious Life
I love that you kept it simple! A lot of people did do the hip modern thing but simple is very cool too!
Thank you so much for your kind words, everyone! I do love this blazer: in addition to the fab shoulders, it actually doesn’t have any buttons! It’s draped front and is supposed to be belted, which is awesome, because my shoulders and waist are a different size than my bust, so I fit the shoulders and the draping and belting keeps it nice. Plus, it was on clearance for only $15 and part of H&M’s sustainability line!
Oh love the blazer with the puffed sleeves, very chic!
